SEPT 2022 - PRESENT Portman Square Capital - Software Engineer
  • Software engineer working on wide range of front office, risk, data and core services, product types include fixed income and exotic equity derivatives at Portman Square Capital, an international hedge fund, based in London, offering a relative value volatility fund with a market-neutral focus.
  • Improved and maintained two front office tools, one used to view and hedge risk within option strategies, the other used for viewing both the implied and realised PnL of equity dispersion package strategies, which consisted of exotic equity derivatives such as volatility swaps, variance swaps and variants derived from these. Implemented 10+ pricing algorithms for new exotic products to be used by the pricing system with impacts on generated risk and pre-trade decisions.
  • Primary maintainer of react-typescript company wide web portal for interacting with data, viewing risk and booking trades. Added authenticated endpoints using AWS Cognito and JWT tokens, to be decoded and used on the back end. Driver of team wide infrastructure changes such as adding automated testing, protected branches, code reviews, linting, formatting and other related best practices.
OCT 2021 - SEPT 2022 Smarkets - Full-Stack Developer
  • Full-Stack developer acting as the technical lead of a two person team delivering a new greenfield project at Smarkets an award-winning, product-led, sports betting company that processes billions of pounds in traded volume each year.
  • Implemented the frontend using modern technologies such as Next.js, Typescript and worked on creating all pages and components given designs. In addition to creating a complex data streaming system for the backend using Python and PostgreSQL, that involved retrieving, processing, mapping and providing the data.
  • Communicate regularly with non-technical stakeholders to translate project requirements into actionable work and provide accurate time estimations on those projects, whilst working with various other teams within the business.
SEPT 2020 - SEPT 2021 Sparx - Software Engineer
  • Software engineer at Sparx, an EdTech company with a presence in over 50% of schools in the UK. Full stack development using Typescript, React, GoLang and PSQL.
  • Iterated on existing features and developed new ones by working on both the front and back end of the web application, technologies learnt included: Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes, GRPC and Firebase.
  • Investigated and solved various bugs from both lower priority backlog tickets to live problems captured through logs. Proactively assisted in requests from external stakeholders such as product, design and data teams where information was needed about the product or its data.
